The Hourglass Foundation Makes Its First Donation to the PACE Center for Girls.

In late 2016, we began laying the groundwork for The Hourglass Foundation. Filing government forms, writing an operations plan, and designing our branding. All of these steps were both exciting and humbling, but we now needed to find our first nonprofit to support.

We knew that our first donation would set the tone for all of those to come, so we wanted to identify an organization that we could work with to fulfill our mission, “Lifting others, one person at a time.” With the help of the Gatsby Girls, a philanthropic women’s social group, we identified a nonprofit that delivers such outcomes every day: The PACE Center for Girls in Pensacola, Florida.

The PACE Center for Girls serves at-risk middle school and high school girls, supporting them so that they can achieve both academically and socially. Not only does PACE do the kind of work we aim to support, its Pensacola location had a transportation need – something we know a lot about!Ron Shoemaker presenting donation to the PACE Center for Girls

So, on November 3, Ron Shoemaker, CEO of Hourglass Management and its portfolio companies, flew down to Pensacola to deliver our first donation of a 2014 Dodge Caravan to the PACE Center for Girls. While the donation is small in comparison to the work PACE is doing, we hope it will support their efforts going forward.

In the future, we plan to follow a similar process assisting other nonprofits. We will select nonprofits, which provide educational opportunities. We will not always donate vehicles, but we do plan to look for ways to leverage our organizational expertise and networks to fulfill nonprofit needs.
