Geotab Veteran Scholarship for the Trades in Partnership with The Hourglass Foundation: $15,000

We’ll be awarding three separate scholarships!

ELIGIBILITY

To qualify for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen (or permanent resident)
  • Be enrolled (or enrolling) as a full-time student at a Community College in the United States for completion of an undergraduate degree in automotive repair, automotive technology, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or similar skilled trades program.
  • Open to U.S. Military Veterans with a character of service rating of Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) (including National Guard and Reserves).
  • Employees, professional affiliates, and agents of Geotab are not eligible. Immediate family members of Geotab employees are eligible.

Qualified education expenses:

  • Tuition and fees required to enroll at or attend an eligible educational institution* (scholarship funds will be sent directly to the financial aid department of the college)
  • Course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies, and equipment that are required for the courses at the eligible educational institution*. These items must be required of all students in your course of instruction.

*Eligible educational institution: An eligible educational institution is one whose primary function is the presentation of formal instruction and that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance at the place where it carries on its educational activities.

*NOTE: Scholarship funds will not be issued to the student directly but to the student’s academic institution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Supply a copy of your High School or College Transcripts, Joint Services Transcript (JST) or CCAF Transcript
  • Proof of Veteran Status such as a DD-214, NGB-22, DD-256 or a Statement of Service (current members only)
  • Enrollment in one of the following areas of study: Auto Technology, Auto Mechanic, Engineering Tech or Skilled Trade Program (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Construction etc.)
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Completed essay on why you are pursuing this field and your goals upon graduation
  • Completed essay describing financial need
  • Listing of extracurricular/volunteer activities (if applicable)
  • 1 recent photo
  • Signed model release form (part of the online application form)

ESSAY GUIDELINES

ESSAY (400-500 words): How would you benefit from being the recipient of the scholarship you are applying for and why is this scholarship important to you? Be sure to include your area of study. We’d also love to hear about your educational goals and career aspirations.

FINANCIAL NEEDS ESSAY (400-500 words): Please include a paragraph about your financial needs, roadblocks or why you are applying for scholarship assistance to attend school.

AMOUNT

(3) – $15,000.00 will be awarded for tuition and fees.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

If you are chosen as the recipient, you will be required to sign a contractual agreement as part of the scholarship award (in agreement to the following terms):

  • Funds will cover tuition and fees required to enroll at or attend an eligible educational institution*
  • Funds may also cover course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies, and equipment that are required for the courses at the eligible educational institution*. These items must be required of all students in your course of instruction.

*Eligible educational institution: An eligible educational institution is one whose primary function is the presentation of formal instruction and that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance at the place where it carries on its educational activities.

Scholarship funds will be sent to the financial aid department of the College prior to the beginning of each semester (as defined by the Community College’s tuition due dates). Payment will be dependent on the student meeting and providing the following to The Hourglass Foundation in a timely manner:

  • Proof of (continued) enrollment in the applicable field of study at the Community College prior to upcoming semester
  • Proof of GPA of at least 2.0 each semester
  • If a student drops out of the college program, changes field of study (major)
  • If a student is already enrolled in a program, funds will be issued based only on remaining semesters to be attended (at $3,750 per semester) (no funds will be retroactive)
  • If a student does not maintain a 2.0 GPA each semester, funds may cease to be awarded.
  • If a student does not provide proof of enrollment and proof of GPA as requested, funds may cease to continue to be awarded

APPLICATION PERIOD

OPENS: February 10, 2026 **CLOSES: April 10, 2026
Award announcements will be made by May 15, 2026.

**The Closed Date is the date after which applications will no longer be accepted. If applying by mail The Hourglass Foundation will use the postmarked date to determine mailed entries. Please submit applications by April 10, 2026. If you are mailing your application please send to:
